​I discovered Five-Element Acupuncture approximately 10 years ago while living in Maryland. My journey began as a gift certificate from my brother to deal with a chronically sore neck. I was very skeptical at first, but eventually realized many unexpected benefits beyond relieved neck pain, which then evolved into a spiritual curiosity over the next 2-3 years. My husband and I came to Marni after being told by a very well-respected doctor that conceiving a child naturally would be next to impossible for us due to my husband's low sperm count. I went to Marni after trying to get pregnant for 11 months. I wasn't getting my period, and was almost finished with my 2nd round of Clomid. I had read some East meets West books on approaches to infertility, and decided that I didn't want to move beyond Clomid to try to get pregnant. All of my hormone levels were normal, and my doctor said my brain was just choosing to not tell my body to ovulate. It was simply unexplained, which I found very frustrating.  

My goal with Marni was to have regular periods on my own in case clomid didn't work for me. Marni is someone who makes you feel comfortable immediately, and you can tell she really wants to help you. She assured me that if nothing else we could get my periods to be regular. After just five sessions, I was pregnant!

I have never been opposed to or in favor of alternative medicine, and I have thought of myself as a fairly healthy person who needs little more than an occasional aspirin or midday nap to maintain my health. It wasn’t until a brief conversation with Marni about acupuncture that I began to consider trying something new.
